  • The 30 Best Bachelor Party Destinations (2026), Ranked by Vibe, Budget and Season

by Chris Bajda August 09, 2025

    The bachelor trip guide

Thirty destinations, ranked by vibe, budget and season, with the honest stuff nobody puts in a list: who should skip each one, where the group should actually stay, and what it really costs.

Updated August 2026 by the Groovy Groomsmen team, who have shipped gifts for more than 100,000 grooms and heard about a lot of bachelor weekends

Illustration of a groom and five groomsmen on a rooftop deck at sunset looking over a coastal city, planning the best bachelor party destination
Short version: the best bachelor party destinations for most groups are Las Vegas, Nashville, New Orleans, Austin and Miami, because they mix walkable nightlife with enough daytime plans to fill a weekend. For a beach trip without a passport, Puerto Rico or Key West. For golf, Scottsdale. For a lower-key crew, Denver, Charleston or Lake Tahoe. The right answer depends on your group's vibe, budget and how far people will fly, so start with the picker below.

Nobody needs another list of 40 cities. You need to pick one, book it before prices climb, and not regret it.

So this guide works like a decision, not a catalog. Start with the vibe your group actually has, check the budget band and the season, compare the finalists in one table, then read the full card for the two or three you are torn between. Every destination gets the same honest treatment: who it is for, who should skip it, where a group of eight to twelve should stay, and the one activity worth building the weekend around.

All 30 bachelor party destinations, compared

Budget bands are for three nights per guy, before flights: $ under about $600, $$ about $600 to $1,200, $$$ about $1,200 to $2,500, $$$$ above that. Bachelor trips run about 30 percent over whatever you plan, so use the bands as floors.

Head-to-head: the calls groups actually argue about

These are the matchups that show up in every group chat. Verdicts, not both-sides.

Nashville vs Austin vs New Orleans

Nashville wins if live music and a classic honky-tonk crawl is the whole point, it's the most purpose-built bachelor party bar scene of the three, though Broadway gets thick with bachelorette parties on weekends. Austin is the pick for a group that wants a daytime component built in alongside the nightlife, Lake Travis, tubing, distillery tours, and it runs a notch cheaper than Nashville. New Orleans wins on pure round-the-clock energy and food, and Frenchmen Street quietly has better live music than either Broadway or 6th Street, while also being the most affordable of the three. If your group can only agree on one thing, pick New Orleans for food, Nashville for music, Austin for a balance of day and night.

    Las Vegas vs Scottsdale

Vegas wins on raw scale, casinos, nightclubs, and pool parties packed into one walkable strip, and it's the default answer for a reason. Scottsdale is the better pick for a golf-heavy group or anyone who wants to actually remember the trip, it trades casino chaos for resort pools and a more manageable bar scene. Vegas is cheaper to fly into from more cities and scales to bigger groups without much extra planning, while Scottsdale caps out around 10 comfortably. If golf isn't on the itinerary, Vegas is the easier, more crowd-tested choice, if it is, Scottsdale wins outright.

    Miami vs Cabo San Lucas

Miami wins if nightlife is the priority, South Beach clubs and Wynwood give a domestic group more variety in one trip without a passport. Cabo wins on scenery and a more upscale, resort-driven pace, plus real golf that Miami doesn't offer. Miami is the cheaper and easier flight for most of the country, while Cabo requires a passport and runs pricier once you land. Pick Miami for a louder, more nightlife-forward weekend, Cabo for a group that wants beach, golf, and a slower resort rhythm.

    Denver vs Lake Tahoe

Denver wins for a group that wants a real city, breweries, LoDo nightlife, a Rockies game, with mountain day trips layered on top. Lake Tahoe wins if the outdoors is the actual point of the trip, boating and hiking in summer or skiing in winter, with casino nightlife on the South Shore as a bonus, not the headline. Denver is the more budget-friendly and logistically simple option, while Tahoe requires more driving and a bigger lodging spend for lakefront cabins. Choose Denver for a city-first trip with mountains nearby, Tahoe for a mountains-first trip with a city vibe as the sidebar.

    New York vs Chicago

New York wins on sheer density and range, more bars, more restaurants, more things to do within a few blocks than anywhere else on this list, but it's also the most expensive domestic city here. Chicago delivers most of that same big-city energy, River North's bar scene, genuinely great food, at a noticeably lower cost, and it's more centrally located for a group flying in from different cities. New York's transit and walkability are unmatched, while Chicago's summer lakefront and rooftop scene rivals it for a few months a year. Pick New York if budget isn't the constraint, Chicago if it is, or if half your group is flying from the Midwest.

Cancun vs Puerto Rico vs Costa Rica

Cancun wins for the simplest, most predictable trip, an all-inclusive resort with drinks and activities built in and nightlife right on the Hotel Zone strip. Puerto Rico is the pick if you don't want the hassle of a passport, it's a US territory, uses the dollar, and pairs beach time with a genuinely walkable historic old town in San Juan. Costa Rica wins for a group that wants adventure over lounging, surfing, ziplining, and jungle over a resort pool, but it demands more planning and a car rental. Cancun for easy, Puerto Rico for no-passport convenience, Costa Rica for a group that would rather be doing something than sitting by a pool.

    Miami, Florida

    Southeast USNightlifeBeachBig splurge$$$

Groups that want beach days by day and real nightclub energy at night, with money to spend.

    Budget
$$$ About $1,200 to $2,500 for three nights before flights. Nightclub tables and South Beach hotels are what blow the budget, not the flight in.
    Best months
March to May, October to November. Skip July through September for heat, humidity, and hurricane risk.
    Fly into
    MIA, Miami International
    Stay in
South Beach for walkable nightlife, or Brickell for a more low-key, still-central base.
    Group size
6 to 12. Boat rentals and club tables scale easily, bigger groups just cost more.
    Getting around
Rideshare, or a rented golf cart if you're staying in South Beach. Budget real money for cars to reach Wynwood and Brickell.

Do this: A rented pontoon or party boat day on Biscayne Bay. By day, lounging at a South Beach pool club. At night, bottle service at a Miami Beach nightclub.

Eat and drink: Wynwood for street art, breweries, and a livelier food scene than the beach strip.

Skip it if: your group is on a tight budget or wants outdoors and hiking instead of beach clubs.

Pro tip: Book boat rentals and club tables at least a month out for winter and spring weekends, prices jump fast once a weekend fills up.

    Budget
$ Under about $600 per guy for three nights before flights. Drinks and lodging in the Quarter are cheap by big-city standards, though Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest weekends spike prices hard.
    Best months
February to May, October to November. June through September brings brutal heat, humidity, and hurricane season.
    Fly into
MSY, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International
    Stay in
The French Quarter for walkable everything, or the Marigny and Frenchmen area for music over frat-bar energy.
    Group size
6 to 14, one of the few destinations on this list that scales well to a big group.
    Getting around
Fully walkable in the Quarter, rideshare for anything farther out.

Do this: A swamp tour to see alligators up close. By day, a distillery or brewery tour, or a food-focused walking tour of the Quarter. At night, frenchmen Street for live jazz and brass bands instead of Bourbon Street.

Eat and drink: Frenchmen Street for live music bars over Bourbon Street's souvenir-shop crowd.

Skip it if: anyone in the group doesn't drink or hates crowds, Bourbon Street is a lot.

Pro tip: Skip Bourbon Street bars entirely on a Saturday night and head straight to Frenchmen, same energy, far better music, fewer tourists.

    Best months

    Fly into
    CHS, Charleston International

    Group size
    6 to 10.

Walkable downtown, rideshare for anything outside it.

Do this: A boat trip or fishing charter out on the harbor. By day, biking the historic district, or a brewery tour. At night, bar hopping Upper King Street.

Eat and drink: Upper King Street for the city's best concentration of bars and restaurants.

Skip it if: the group wants big nightclub energy, Charleston's nightlife is bars, not clubs.

Pro tip: Book restaurant reservations for a group of 8 or more well ahead, Charleston's best spots book out weeks in advance.

    Budget
$$ About $600 to $1,200 for three nights before flights. Honky-tonks don't charge cover, but pedal-tavern packages and a full night of Broadway bar tabs add up.
    Best months
April to May, September to November. Summer is hot and Broadway gets packed with tourists.
    Fly into
    BNA, Nashville International
    Stay in
The Gulch or downtown near Broadway, walkable to the honky-tonks.

Do this: A honky-tonk crawl down Lower Broadway. By day, a distillery tour, or a round of golf. At night, rooftop bar hopping after Broadway.

Eat and drink: Lower Broadway's honky-tonks for live country music with no cover charge.

Skip it if: your group hates bachelorette-party crowds, Broadway is packed with them on weekends.

Pro tip: Broadway gets rowdy with bachelorette sashes by 9pm, hit the honky-tonks earlier or start on a quieter East Nashville bar first.

    Best months

    Fly into
EYW, Key West International (many groups fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale and drive the Overseas Highway instead)
    Stay in
Old Town, walkable to Duval Street and the harbor.
    Group size
4 to 10. Hotel rooms are smaller and pricier than the mainland, so bigger groups get expensive fast.

Do this: A sunset sail or booze cruise off Mallory Square. By day, snorkeling the reef, or a day out on a rented boat. At night, bar hopping Duval Street.

Eat and drink: Duval Street for the classic bar crawl, but grab conch fritters and key lime pie a block or two off the main drag.

Skip it if: the group wants a big-city nightclub scene, Duval Street is bars and karaoke, not clubs.

    Best months
April to May, September to November. Summer is hot and humid.
    Fly into
    ATL, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
    Stay in
Midtown for walkable bars and restaurants, or Buckhead for a more upscale nightlife scene.
    Group size
    6 to 12.
    Getting around
Rideshare, Atlanta isn't a walkable city outside individual neighborhoods.

Do this: A group outing to the Georgia Aquarium, genuinely a good time even for a bachelor party, followed by a night out. By day, the Georgia Aquarium or the World of Coca-Cola. At night, bar hopping Midtown or Buckhead.

Eat and drink: Midtown for the city's best concentration of bars and restaurants within walking distance of each other.

Skip it if: the group wants beach, golf, or outdoors, Atlanta's draw is nightlife, food, and being a major air hub.

Planning the trip without losing friends

The destination is the easy part. These are the questions that actually cause fights.

    Who pays

The etiquette baseline is that the groom pays nothing, the groomsmen and other attendees split lodging, activities, and food, and usually also cover the groom's share as a group gift. In practice, plenty of modern groups now split everything evenly including the groom's cut, especially for pricier destinations like Necker Island or Bali, so it's worth the best man confirming the plan with the group up front rather than assuming. Either way, the groom typically doesn't pay for his own lodging or planned group activities, and he's rarely the one collecting money. Flights are usually paid individually rather than pooled.

    When to book

For a summer weekend at a popular US destination, book flights and any group house or block of hotel rooms 4 to 6 months out, popular rentals in places like Nashville, Austin, and Lake Tahoe get scooped up that far ahead for peak weekends. International trips (Bali, Amsterdam, Iceland, Costa Rica) benefit from booking flights even earlier, 5 to 7 months out, since fares climb steadily as the date gets closer. Necker Island and other exclusive properties need to be locked in as soon as dates are set, availability is limited to specific weeks on the calendar.

    Group size math

Six to ten people is the sweet spot for most of these trips, big enough to split costs meaningfully but small enough to fit one house, one dinner reservation, and one rideshare-friendly group without splitting up. Above 12, expect to book two rentals or a hotel block instead of a single house, and expect restaurants to seat you at two tables. New Orleans, Las Vegas, and Atlanta are the destinations on this list that genuinely scale well past 12.

    Splitting costs

Splitwise and Venmo are what groups rely on to track shared costs and settle up after the trip, Splitwise is better for an itemized running tally (groceries, gas, one person fronting the rental), Venmo for one-off reimbursements. The best man collecting a flat per-person amount up front, usually through a Venmo request, for the shared house, activities, and a few group meals is the most common structure, with individual bar tabs and flights left to each person.

    Passports and paperwork

US citizens need a valid passport for Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Bali, Amsterdam, Montreal, Costa Rica, and Necker Island (British Virgin Islands), a driver's license alone is not enough for any international flight. Mexico itself only requires the passport be valid through your stay, but airlines commonly enforce a stricter unofficial 6-month rule, so renew if you're inside that window. Amsterdam and other Schengen-area stops require at least 3 months of validity beyond your departure date from Europe. Puerto Rico doesn't require a passport since it's a US territory, a driver's license and standard ID are enough. Bali requires a visa on arrival for US citizens, approx $45 total with the tourist levy, valid 30 days, available at the airport with no advance application needed as of 2026. Starting in late 2026, Amsterdam and other EU and Schengen countries are expected to require an online ETIAS authorization in addition to a passport, check the current requirement closer to your travel date since the rollout timing has shifted before.

    What to pack

    • A portable phone charger or battery pack, group trips run phones dead fast between photos, boarding passes, and reservations.
    • Sunscreen and electrolyte packets, especially for Vegas, Cabo, Scottsdale, or anywhere hot, hangovers hit harder in heat and altitude.
    • One collared shirt and real shoes per person, even bar-crawl destinations have at least one venue with a dress code.
    • A downloaded or printed copy of key reservations, dinner, boat rental, golf tee times, in case service is spotty.
    • Cash in small bills for tipping guides, bartenders, and boat crews, a lot of these trips involve tip-heavy service that doesn't always run smoothly on card.

A three-day itinerary that works anywhere

    • Friday: arrive, settle into the group house or hotel, a low-key group dinner to reset after travel, then one signature night activity, a bar crawl, casino, or a low-effort welcome drink at the house.
    • Saturday: the day's big group activity, a boat day, golf, surf lesson, or outdoor excursion, a few hours of recovery or pool time, then the night's headline event, a club, a big group dinner, or the destination's signature bar crawl.
    • Sunday: a slower morning, brunch or a recovery breakfast, one lighter activity if energy allows, then travel home.
    • Build in one true rest block, either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, most groups skip this and regret it by day two.

    Mistakes that ruin bachelor trips

    • Booking the flashiest city for a group that is not flashy. Six guys who like beer and golf will have a better weekend in Scottsdale or Denver than at a Vegas club table they resent paying for.
    • Fifteen people. Nobody can seat you, the group text becomes a job, and someone always feels left out. Eight to ten is the sweet spot almost everywhere.
    • No rest block. Three nights of going out with nothing in between produces one great night and two bad ones. Plan the pool day.
    • Splitting every bill at the table. One person pays, one app settles it at the end. Decide this before anyone lands.
    • Surprising the groom with a trip he would not pick. Ask him for a shortlist of three, then decide.

    Bachelor party destination FAQ

What are the top bachelor party destinations?

Las Vegas, Nashville, Miami, Austin, and New Orleans consistently top the list because they combine walkable nightlife with enough daytime activities to fill a full weekend. For a beach-and-drinks trip without a passport, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Rico are the most popular picks, all built around all-inclusive or resort-style stays. If the group wants something outdoors-driven instead of bar-driven, Denver, Lake Tahoe, and Costa Rica are the strongest options. The right answer really depends on whether the group prioritizes nightlife, outdoors, beach, or budget, there isn't one universal best destination.

Who usually pays for a bachelor party?

Traditional etiquette says the groom pays nothing, the groomsmen and other attendees split the cost of lodging, activities, and food, and often cover the groom's share as a group gift. In practice, plenty of modern groups split everything evenly including the groom's portion, especially for pricier trips, so it's worth the best man confirming the arrangement before booking anything. The best man or a designated organizer usually collects money up front through Venmo or a tool like Splitwise and handles the group bookings. Flights are almost always paid individually rather than pooled.

What is the best all-inclusive resort area for a bachelor party?

Cancun's Hotel Zone is the most popular all-inclusive bachelor party destination, it has the largest concentration of resorts built specifically for groups, plus nightlife within walking distance. Cabo San Lucas is the step-up option, similar all-inclusive convenience with a more upscale feel and real golf courses nearby. Puerto Rico has fewer true all-inclusive resorts but wins on convenience since it doesn't require a passport or currency exchange. For a group that wants the all-inclusive model without leaving the mainland US, there isn't a real equivalent, that resort structure is specific to Mexico and the Caribbean.

What are cheap bachelor party destinations?

New Orleans and Austin are the most affordable options on this list that still deliver a real nightlife-driven weekend, cheap drinks and lodging relative to what you get. Puerto Rico and Cancun are the best value beach trips, particularly Cancun's all-inclusive model, which bundles most costs into one predictable price. Portland and Chicago outside of peak summer are reasonably priced city options for a group that wants food and breweries over bottle service. The most expensive destinations to avoid on a tight budget are Necker Island, Hawaii, New York City, and Bali, where flights alone can run the trip's whole budget.

How many days should a bachelor party be?

Three days, a Friday-to-Sunday weekend, is the standard length and works for the majority of domestic destinations on this list, long enough for one big activity and one big night out without asking too much of everyone's schedule. International trips like Bali, Costa Rica, Amsterdam, or Iceland are worth stretching to 5 or 6 days given the flight time, a 3-day trip mostly spent traveling isn't worth the cost. Necker Island and similarly exclusive stays are usually booked for a specific length tied to their calendar, a Celebration Week, for example, rather than a standard weekend. Whatever the length, build in at least one lower-key half-day, back-to-back high-intensity days is how groups end up exhausted rather than having fun.

When is the best time of year for a bachelor party?

Spring, March through May, and fall, September through November, are the best windows for most of the US destinations on this list, mild weather, lower prices than peak summer, and fewer crowds. Summer works well for outdoor-heavy destinations like Lake Tahoe, Denver, and Seattle, but it's also when hurricane risk picks up for Gulf Coast and Caribbean destinations, Cancun, Puerto Rico, Cabo, New Orleans, Miami, which run December through April as their better window. Winter is prime time for ski-driven trips like Lake Tahoe and for escaping cold weather at warm destinations like Cabo, Scottsdale, or Palm Springs. Whatever the destination, checking that specific place's hurricane season, extreme-heat months, or rainy season before locking dates saves a lot of regret.

Do we need passports for Mexico or the Caribbean?

Yes for Mexico and most Caribbean islands, including Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, and Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, a US passport is required for any international flight, a driver's license alone won't work at the airport. Puerto Rico is the exception, it's a US territory, so a driver's license and standard ID are enough, no passport needed. Mexico legally only requires your passport be valid through the length of your stay, but airlines often enforce a stricter 6-month-validity rule, so check your expiration date well before booking. If anyone in the group has a passport expiring within 6 months of the trip, get it renewed early, processing times can run into months during busy seasons.
